Because I am a Comrade A Reverie

Hullo VS
You do not take kindly to a sceptic being sceptical.  A sceptic merely questions but Sanker's vish kills.  I am wondering which of the two is the lesser evil?

A top notch executive with leftist leanings is intriguing to say the least.  Despite all the vish, Shanker does remain the soft-hearted saviour.  How does Karat's having a charming wife and living under the same roof with his media baron brother-in-lae add to his public standing?

Sceptics do not go ferreting vish   in other people's hearts.   Given the large number of hearts you rule at Sulekha it would be a daunting task.   In any case, Amar Singh does nto fascinate me enough to become a topic of my contemplation.  We have heard of mightier and more scheming Ravanas to be overawed by this novice.  Come SHANKER have fairh in your Trishul.

It left me anxious to know that you suffer from chronic back trouble, which affects your working and proffessional life.  As I understand your dilemma stands resolved.  I shy away from interfering in matters I am not fully conversant with.

Cheers.

India's First Muslim PM ?

Hullo RK
How nice to hear an old soldier speak with honesty and passion.  It left me wondering about a couple of points.
If a lifetime spent in uniform can not make a person secular, what else can?  Those who die defending India, do so knowing that their India is a fabric of diverse strands.  It is important tha all strands remain intact for a tapesstry to retain its strength and design.

Aren't our perceptions coloured by our beliefs?  Mine have an imprint of the Gita.  I find great merit in its declaration that a learned man is one who views with impartiality an erudite Brahmin with humility, a cow, an elephant, a dog and a mlechha or a chandal.

Your sresponse appears emotional, whereas, my assertion about Abdullah was based on rational appreciation of India's compulsions, constraints and possible courses.

Thankfully, we live in a vibrant democracy and enjoy a right to think and speak as we please.  Is this not grounds enough to celebrate?
Cheers

Rooting out Corruption at High Political Levels- India (contest 5- for GK)

Hullo SP
Do you have in your circle of friends or acquaintances any serving or retired Army officer?  If so, please request him to do for you an appreciation on this subject. Should that not be possible kindly let me know, give me a weeks' time and an email ID on which I can mail it.  The technique of arriving at a course of action by a detailed appreciation is a standard operational procedure in Army.
It enables a commander, a leader in uniform, to take all relevant factors into account and deduce the right course from each one by turn.

BE RATIONAL

Hullo Doc
Can an irrational mind be brought to rationality by rationalisation?
Enlightenment to be acceptable must come packaged as love coated pill of inspiration.  Ignorance of the masses is seldom dispelled by haranguing but possibly by inspired conduct of a mentor.

Hullo SP
Your earnestness and zeal are laudable.  Howethe pious authorityver, your premise is flawed.  You dwell on the need for more laws, more stringent laws, but, you do not indicate the pious agency that will enforce those.
Social evils can never be legislated away. those call for reformation, or , renaissance.  You seem to have the requisite qualifications to be a social reformer.  You can make a beginning by acquiring a clearer understanding of issues that seem most important to you.  Next stage should be
initiation of a movement to spread awareness.

Bubbly Thoughts

Hullo Dr
Obviously, you are a thinker and a man of learning.  I compliment you on your piece and photographs.  I hope you will not take it amiss if I ask a simple question.  Have Hindus lost their tolerance or
are they more proud of their faith now?  At seventy, I think I have spent considerable time in study of Hindu thought.  Yet I remain ignorant about instances in our scriptures where a Hindu is exhorted to look upon criticism, or abuse, as bashing.  Centuries of alien rule could not destroy the core of our philosophy.  Can unfounded criticism by by our enemies do so?

This Age That We Call Ours

Hullo Supriya
A lengthy write-up and equally long comments.  People with short attention span are at a disadvantage here.  They should be forgivem for missing the main argument here, in case they do.
Is ability to love and empathise not a behavioural trait?  If so, then like other traits a child in infancy must find models of it to emulate.  Children in the West are routinely banished away from mother's warmth into a night of haunting loneliness.  The day sees the mother absent and away to work.  How do you expect a child starved of love in infancy to be, for the rest of his life, a font of limitless warmth and tenderness?  Just as love begets love, indifference breeds indifference.  Indifferencein a heightened state is apathy.
Have we no been aping the West for some decades now?  How could we expect a better fate?

Hullo Rameshji
It would be naive of me to expect an original thinker to become a convert to my philosophy by mere five hundred odd words.  No, I admire you convictions.
Nirmal vivek which allows unbiased and dispassionate contemplation is a gift of an attitude of  moksha.   Not many are so inclined.

QUOTE of The Day

Hullo AB
Your profile photo suggests that you are an infant, if not in reality, at least in wistfulness.  Success is a difficult subject to tackle even for 'old souls', hence your take on it may not sound convincing to all.
Hindu thought divides human endeavour into four streams, namely, moksha, dharma, artha, and kaam.
Human limitation of thought and knowledge often restrict a thinker's view point to one ore two of these.  For those who rate moksha  as the most important the other three tend to lose their importance.  Kabir, by your standards, would be called a failure, Socretes an idler.
Unless you are a Dinetics convert, you may like to check out on Ron Hubbard.

The values of a comment dependes both on the stature of the writer and its content.  Yours is important on both counts.  Your words -'
situations in life determine a lot of things :-)'  show how socially correct your thoughts and actions are.  No sign of a rebel here Reticence in a woman is a symbol of modesty, and modesty is the mark of a lady.
